Černé jezero (translate to english Black lake) is greatest of glacial lake in Šumava. The lake is at a height 1008 meters above sea level. Maximum depth in lake is 40,6 m.
The first pumped storage hydroelectric in Czechoslovakia was built at years 1929-1930.
The power plant was equipped with one Pelton turbine with 1.5 MW installed capacity. They added another Pelton turbine with an installed capacity of 370 kW in 2004.When is the peak of demand for electricity energy the pump draws up to 400 l / s (0,4 m3/s).
After water swapping, level of Black Lake rises only 8 cm.
They ceased to draw water in 1960. Due pollution of water in Black Lake from Úhlava river.
Now power plant Černé jezero produces electric energy, but without use pumps
They built too storage reservoir near village Hamry. The reservoir is at a height 745 meters above sea level. The dam was equipped with one Kaplan turbine with installed capacity of 40 kW
